WRAP AROUND CARE ASSISTANT

Dean Gibson RC School is a welcoming mixed-age primary school dedicated to nurturing and educating children in a supportive and family-friendly environment. Our school community includes Nursery and Reception classes together, Year 1 and 2, Year 3 and 4, Year 4 and 5, and Year 6, with a total number on roll of 124.

Dean Gibson RC School is seeking a passionate and enthusiastic Wrap Around Care Play Assistant to supervise and engage with children in our After-School Club, catering for ages 3 to 11 years. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a vibrant team dedicated to creating a joyful, safe, and stimulating environment for children beyond the school day.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise children attending the After-School Club Monday to Thursday from 3:15pm to 6pm and Friday from 3:15pm to 5pm (12hours 45mins)

  • Supervise children attending Breakfast Club 7.45am-9am on a Friday (1 hour 15 mins) (this can be split from after school club role)

  • Engage with children through creative indoor and outdoor play activities

  • Prepare and distribute snacks and drinks to children during the session

  • Communicate effectively with families to provide feedback on their child’s time in the setting

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience working with children in a play or care setting

  • Childcare qualification Level 2 or Level 3 (working towards)

  • Ability to supervise and engage children in a safe and enjoyable manner

  • Strong communication skills to liaise with families about their child’s welfare and activities

Desirable Qualities

  • A warm, friendly, and approachable personality

  • Enthusiasm for creating a positive, fun, and inclusive atmosphere

  • Flexibility and reliability to support the smooth running of the After School Club

Salary

  • Grade PCD5, SCP 6

  • £25,989.00 Annually (FTE) – Part time - Pro Rata

  • £13.47 per hour

CLASS TEACHER

Main purpose

The teacher will:

  • Fulfil the professional responsibilities of a teacher, as set out in the School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document

  • Meet the expectations set out in the Teachers’ Standards

Duties and responsibilities

Teaching

  • Plan and teach well-structured lessons following the school’s plans, CUSP based curriculum and RE scheme of work

  • Assess, monitor, record and report on the learning needs, progress and achievements of assigned pupils, making accurate and productive use of assessment

  • Adapt teaching to respond to the strengths and needs of pupils

  • Set high expectations which inspire, motivate and challenge pupils

  • Promote good progress and outcomes by pupils

  • Demonstrate good subject and curriculum knowledge

  • Set appropriate homework

Whole-school organisation, strategy and development

  • Make a positive contribution to the wider life and ethos of the school

  • Work with others on curriculum and pupil development to secure co-ordinated outcomes

  • Provide cover, in the unforeseen circumstance that another teacher is unable to teach

Health, safety and discipline

  • Promote the safety and wellbeing of pupils

  • Maintain good order and discipline among pupils, managing behaviour effectively to ensure a good and safe learning environment

Professional development

  • Take part in the school’s appraisal procedures

  • Take part in further training and development in order to improve own teaching

Communication

  • Communicate effectively with pupils, parents, carers, colleagues and other professionals

·         provide or contribute to oral and written assessments, reports and references relating to individual pupils and groups of pupils

Working with colleagues and other relevant professionals

  • Collaborate and work with colleagues and other relevant professionals within and beyond the school

  • Develop effective professional relationships with colleagues

·         participate in meetings and briefings at school which relate to the curriculum for the school or the administration or organisation of the school, including pastoral arrangements;

Personal and professional conduct

  • Uphold public trust in the profession and maintain high standards of ethics and behaviour, within and outside school

  • Have proper and professional regard for the ethos, policies and practices of the school, and maintain high standards of attendance and punctuality

  • Understand and act within the statutory frameworks setting out their professional duties and responsibilities

Management of staff and resources

  • Deploy resources delegated to them

  • The teacher will be required to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people, and follow school policies and the staff code of conduct.
